My Colorist American Landscapes are studio works done in soft pastel. Based on memory, I utilize the landscape genre to present my color stories. Starting with a color theme, such as a broad range of reds complimented by greens, I subvert all the other elements of my painting to the color composition.
The perspective is flattened. Often, I will reverse the aerial perspective by putting warm behind cool colors. The shapes are abstracted.
My desire is to allow the feelings the viewer has for these color compositions to be foremost, and readily available.
