Acrylic

Acrylic is usually referred to in art as a fast drying paint. It is composed of pigments in a synthetic acrylic resin produced from acrylates and methacrylates... in other words it dilutes in water but is resistant to water when dry. Acrylic paint has been worshiped by artists since the 1950s; it continued to be extremely popular in the 1960s when an improved version appeared. The artist can modify the texture of acrylic when diluted with water or acrylic gels, it can then take the appearance of watercolour or oil paint. The multiple advantages of acrylic explain why painters have adopted this media through time.
