It is an acrylic painting spread across seven 14"x20" canvases. It depicts two stories from Mohawk legends: Sky woman and the Peace Maker. Sky woman falls from skyworld onto a turtle's back and creates earth as we know it. Later on, the peace maker plants the tree of peace to stop the warring between nations and separates the people into three clans: turtle, bear, and wolf.
I chose these two stories because I find they are the most important in my culture and my life. We all fall from places we are used to and must adjust to the world around us. We create what our future will be and we begin by following the leaders before us.
